Would you replace both front and rear brake pads at the same time?
I just replaced my front pads yesterday with the Proact ceramics and thought was it wise to replace the rears today? I'm just thinking in terms of what if something was bad with my front install(I did a road test and all seems well) or I had to stop hard and end up glazing both sets of new pads.
I thought I read that the Proacts did not need a breaking in period but just a few hundred miles of careful driving? The rear pads I'm guessing are the originals and have 83k miles on them. They look like they have maybe 3mm of pad left but its hard to tell. I also will put the Proacts in the rear. My GS430 is 100% stock except for a K&M intake. Any thoughts would be appreciated

I just did my front pads with Akebono ProActs. It says there is no need for a break in procedure for these ceramic pads which seems kind of odd since most other resources said a proper break in procedure is critical to proper safe braking and maximizing life of pads and rotors and proper function. I will just take it easy and try doing a few slow 35mph to 5mph slow downs and then a few harder ones from 60mph where there is little traffic.
Since your fronts do most of the work in braking they almost always wear faster and need replacing much sooner so you generally don't need to replace the rears when you replace the fronts unless it is convenient and cheaper to do so.
