Default ride quality and road noise

Does anyone know if the quality of ride & noise will be better if I go from a 35 series tire to a 40. The wheels are 19x8.5. I think no but maybe someone has info on this.

Tire noise is more often related to WIDTH rather than aspect/profile.

You'd feel bumps less with a higher profile tire though.

Tread pattern is also huge factor in tire noise. But there are some quite aggressive tread patterns that arre relatively quiet, so you can't really judge by appearance. TireRack's consumer reviews, plus old posts here on CL are pretty good guides.

Ditto bit's comments on aspect ratio and ride comfort.
