Unhappy Hmmm, New SC430 Wheel??

Anyone ever thought about this?

While cleaning my stock SC430 wheels and putting them away, I noticed that the "disc" cover seems to be some sort of thick plastic? Without the plastic "disc" cover, the wheel is essentially a five spoke wheel.

I snapped several photos of the wheel. One with the cover on (normal), one with the cover off

Here is a pic of the wheel as everyone knows it.

When I first got the SC430, I took off the "disc" cover 2 c if it would look OK without it. IMO, there is just too much going on wihtout it (exposed center, no center cap, lugs stick out).

Has anyone thought of modifying the "disc" cover to something like this? Just a thought since the wheel is already 18" and is OEM.

This is my novice approach at editing photos so please understand.

What do you all think?

This would be a intersting mod. I'll check around to find someone locally that could make those cuts and clean it up.

Honestly, I think those rims are ugly as sin the way they come stock. IMO, cutting the cover to the spokes would look much better if it was done well.

Actually, we had this discussion a while back and I think Globe did that exact PhotoChop mod... I guess it's true, history repeats itself!

eh, just slap on some nice 20's instead...why bother trying to fix something so horribly broke?

Actually, those wheels look pretty on the LS430 for some reason...

Manaray,

Funny you should mention that. I was gonna ask Globe to do the photoshop, but I kinda figured it out, kinda. I didn't see his. Is it still around? I agree with you on getting aftermarket wheels but just thought for those that didn't want to change the wheels completely (maybe save some $$), this might be possible.
