Method For Safely Cleaning Polished Wheels?
I've never had anything but OEM wheels, you know, silver painted, so I've never had to worry about scratching polished lips. I've always used regular car wash soap (Meguiars Gold) and a soft sponge; never a brush, anything abrasive, or those spray on cleaners.
No, I don't have any new wheels yet, , but I try to be proactive instead of reactive.
Can you get hairline scratches in the poished lips by using a sponge? I imagine so; I usually wash the wheels last - but may consider washing them separate from the car with a fresh bucket of water and a little soap.
What do you guys use? And yep, I've checked the archives

Well if your polished lip is clearcoated, you can just use soap and water. I don't recommend using anything else.
If you polished lip is NOT clearcoated, use soap and water to clean it and then use some Mother's Metal Polish to get the high shine. It takes some elbow work but it'll look great!
