Default Need Helping Picking Tire Size - Need a tire god!

The fronts are 19x8 with a 30 offset and the rears are 19x8.5 with a 35

Going on a 93 lexus sc300. What size tire do you recommend?

I went to the local tire place and they told me.

235/35/19 in the front

265/30/19 in the rear

I'm not sure if those sizes are correct. I don't want to pay for wheels and have them look horrible.

Thanks guys!!!!!!

Depends on what you mean horrible looks, do you want the tires to match up evenly, or not look fat?

I don't mind if the tires are a little fat, I would like them to line up for the most part. No streching please. =)

Default Tire God in training

Okay... first you need to look at the O.E. diameter of the wheel/tire assembly. The stock diameter is 25.2" and you want to stay within 3% of that. Another concern is the offset... but since you already have the wheels I'll skip that... except to mention that if you do a brake upgrade you might have to watch the caliper size as it might conflict.

Basically as a rule those of us in the Tire Industry have come to agree that for your typical upgrade, you do NOT want to exceed a 3% OVERALL diameter increase. Doing so often requires other upgrades or compensations... which I'm not going to bother explaining here.

My recommendation would be 235/35R19 in the front and 245/35R19 in the rear. Here is the diameters:

p215/60r15 (OE) - 25.2"

p235/35r19 - 25.5"

p245/35r19 - 25.8"

Just make sure you get a good shop with good equipment to do it... those tires are NOT easy to mount without scratching the wheel. Unless they are reverse wheels... which many 19"s are.

Hope this helps.

It's gray area. I run 285/30 18 on the rear of my M Roadster and that is .5 inches wider on my AR1's then the recommended rim width range of the KDW2's I use. Guys here I know are stretching more but I wouldn't recommend going more then .5 outside the reco, and only do that if you have to.

Thank You Brandon. So it's O.K. to run 275 tire on 8.5 rim?

Your the tire guy - but why such a difference vs you and the other guys?

Yours was closer to les schwab. I'm just not sure if that big of a tire will fit right under the SC without hitting the fender, are you?

Default Yes

The minimum rim width for a 275 is 7.5" ... so it will fit. I was recommending a 245 because personally I think the 275's would make it look like an american muscle car with that much difference from front to rear.... plus they are a tad expensive.

I use 225's all the way around on my SC400 and I like the fit.
