Default Will 20" wheels/tires effect the tire pressure monitor?

Hi, this is my first post on the forum. It think that it is an awesome resource for everyone and hope that I can contribute and learn from it.

I just purchased an 05 LS 430 and even though I have the 18" wheels on it I had to order some new one. I ordered a set of 20" wheels and tires (245/35/20) and I was wondering if I am going to have problems with the tire pressure monitor. Is there something I need to let me mechanic know about beforehand?

I just traded in an 05 Acura RL and there as something in the valvestems on it. That car would actually show you on the screen what the psi was in each tire.

I actually took my RL to be serviced and they had a used LS 430 there so I asked if I could take it and fell in love with the way it drove and handled. The RL is an awesome car but for Acura's top of the line car it was too small and drove more like a sports car. So far the only complaint I have about the LS is that dreadful wind noise from the front windshield. I drove at least 20 cars from 02-06 and they ALL have it. Other than that and a missing mp3 player (which I will fix shortly) I have no complaints.

If I am correct, inside your tires should have a tire sensor. Therefore you will have to order one of those tire sensor strapes. I'm not sure where you can purchase them from. But if your running low profile tires then you will need them for each tire. If anyone else knows where to get them please advise for alexmlane. Thanks! Good luck alexmlane!

to do it right, you also need to make sure your wheels are TPS compatible, otherwise you can't mount the sensors correctly and could damage them while driving

Thank you all very much. I ordered the wheels from Tire Rack and I spoke with the guy there and he said the wheels are compatible with the tire pressure monitors. What sucks is I will have to pull the tires off the stock wheels, remove the sensor, remove the new tires off the new wheels, install the sensor, then remount and rebalance.

I have to say that I am VERY impressed with Tire Rack and the prices. I got the wheels and tires for around $1500.00. I am just curious now to if I will ruin my perfect LS ride.
