To Answer Your Question these are the fitments that will work.
You can find this info easily on www.TireRack.com
18x8.5" --- front would be 245-40-18
18x9" --- front would be 245-40-18
18x9.5" --- rear could be either 245040-18 OR 265-35-18
18x10" --- rear would be 265-35-18

Same with using 265/35-18 on 9.5"-wide and 10"-wide rim?

on 9.5" wheel, I would do 265 or 275...on a 10" wheel, 275 or 285. Also, on a 9" wide wheel, I would do a 255...
As for overall diameter, what moshlub said is right but the difference is very minimal...

I noticed that some wheel manufacturers make 8.5" and 9.5"-wide wheels and not 9" and 10". Would this minimal difference matter after installation?

REgarding your question as to which sizes would be max, the guys at TireRack strongly suggested that 245-40-18 on the front and 265-35-18 on the rear would provide the best fitment even if the car were lowered 1". The wheels these larger (wider than stock) tires would be mounted to would have to have correct Lexus fitment as well.
As an example, I have the fronts 245-40-18 mounted on new rims here in the office. These are for the front. They are substantially wider than the stock tires. Overall unloaded width is.... 9 5/8" when mounted on 9" SSR GT-3 rims. I am getting in 10" rims of the same make with the 265-35-18 tires. I would expect them to measure out at 11" or so wide unloaded.
Real tank treads. The tires are the Bridgestone Pole Position S-03's. They look beautiful, and are uni-directional.

Moslub - for the front, 245's (even on a 9" wide wheel)...you can do 255 but you run the chance of rubbing...on the rear, 265 or 275 should work. You'll also have to watch your offsets on the wheels...however, if you don't lower the car too much, it won't be as big of deal (unless you hit a lot of bumps or dips that cause your suspension to compress a lot...)
