Default Will these tires fit?

I'm shopping around for winter tires and found a good price on some non OEM sizes.

225/55/17
and
235/55/17

OEM is 235/45/17

Will the added height be enough to create an issue?

Had this posted in the 2GS section until a mod moved it

So these are going on a 2nd gen GS.

Anyone know if these will fit?

I don't think it is a good idea to mount either size on your GS. Going from 235/45-17 to 225/55-17 is 5.6% too slow. When your speedometer reads 60 mph, you are actually travelling 63.4 mph. Going to 235/55-17 is worse. It makes a 7.3% difference. As a rule of thumb, you don't want to be off by more than 4%. If you want non-OEM size winter tire, you might want to look at 215/50-17. Good luck.
