Default Tire question, bubble in sidewall

how dangerous or more likey is it for the tire to blow out when a tire has bubble on the sidewall? do i really have to trash theses tires even if they are practically new??? the bubble is size of a nickle, low profile tire 225/40/18 sitting on honda prelude (for the beater car). just a question for the tire guru's.

The tire may be fine for an extended period of time or may blow out tomorrow, it's a chance you are taking if you keep it. I once drove off road on part of the Baja 500 course, with a huge knot in the sidewall of my tire for like 2 days until I hit a boulder and it exploded. I suggest getting a new tire just to be safe.

As usual, I agree with Brandon

that knot is cords in the sidewall that are broken... those broken cords put additional stress on the cords beside them... it may not take much to cause a complete tire failure... better be safe than sorry...
