Great thread Seize!

I've been considering buying wheels for my car, and my top choices are all discontinued, old school wheels. I'd really like a set of those 501's, which remind me of old SSR mesh rims.

I think we're getting old.

I agree those are very nice wheel. The fact that 10 years later we're still giving compliments says a lot. Timeless indeed...

Haha... I've been watching this thread, but didn't have time to comment over the weekend. Most of those wheels were already disco'd by the time I went to HRE in 1998. The 525 was cast, and the 526 was forged, and was later re-named the 345, which was made until a couple of years ago. I could count the number of sets of 345s were made on my fingers and toes... was considered "old school" even back in the late 90s and was only popular with guys with old Jags & Camaros...

The old 585s and similar styles had structural issues and were disco'd long ago. Just look at some of the spoke designs... I can't believe someone thought those would actually be strong! There were a few 427 castings floating around while I was there... I should have snagged one to make a cool table out of. Most of those old castings and dies have undoubtedly been recycled by now... that's mostly a good thing... ever tried to clean a 504?

You should see all the restored vintage wheels, and might want to keep an eye out. We have some new products coming out soon
