my wheels cracked help!!
hello all,
well today i took my 2002 sc430 to get new tires i was switching out runflats for pirellis there taking my wheels off and one of the wheels has 2 cracks on the inside. so now trying to get a wheel as soon as possible i call the dealership and ask them how much it would cost me for a 2002 sc430 CHROME wheel..... my answer, lexus doesnt offer the sc430 with chrome wheels my wheels are aftermarket! i bought the car a year ago with 30000 miles and was never told this is it true? then they told me look at my lexus symbol on the wheels and compare it to the emblem on the hood and he was right it looks really funny. shouldnt the dealership have told me this? i also know these wheels bend really easily is that becasue there aftermaket? please help im a little confused?!?

I would suggest to do this, if the rim is still capable of hold air throw on the tire for now.
your solutions are
1) go to a local shop that repairs wheels and have them professionally repair the wheels. They will examine your wheel and unless they can repair it to a more then acceptable spec they will not even do the job, so rest assured they wont do a half-*** job.
2) would be contacting a company like Victoriatire.com or going on ebay and buying a replica wheel. For what its worth you will never notice the difference it will get the job done!
hope this helps ya!!

I have seen this weird L symbol on many factory appearing wheels...
It is a commonly added "aftermarket" wheel typically sold through dealerships...
Good luck finding one new, you will almost indefinitely need to go used or repair on this deal...
Is the crack truly structural? Maybe a pic would help us determine if you seriously have a problem... I have seen chrome wheels crack and peel and it only be in the chrome layer...

Here's the scoop as I understand it on the chrome wheels with the funny L center cap. For some OEM wheels, Lexus does not offer chrome, but only makes them in painted silver. In order to get chrome wheels, some dealers send the OEM wheels out for chrome plating. However, because the original center caps are painted, and you need chrome center caps to go with the chrome wheels, people buy these chrome caps with the funny looking L. Check the back side of your cracked wheel and look for the "Toyota" badge inside one of the spokes. My guess is that you'll find it, which means that your wheels are OEM with aftermarket chrome plating and a non-Lexus center cap. Hope this makes sense.
