Default Falken fk452 spliting??? Tire experts...

The falken product engineer said my wheel hit a pot hole and the rim pinched the tire. I haven't even hit a pot hole enough to jar the car any. I need some opinions.

That is why i will never buy anything but Toyo's . I bent a wheel 2 inches back ad the tire was perfect after and has no balance issues.

The "expert" at falken tires said it was a rim pinch. They said that I hit a pothole and the tire was pinched by the rim. I noticed a lot of people using these tires on here. Dang only had these a month. To top it of the car isn't lowered and I drive the car like a grandma. I've owned Nitto, Fusion, Ventus,Conti's and Michelins and never had this happen. I guess this is what happens at $120 per tire.

Yours was pinched?
Mine were literally crushed , i guess that goes to show you how much engineering they put into a tire.

No stretch, the rim is 20x8.5, tires are 245/35/20. Maybe a stretch would have avoided this but I gotta get some suspension first.

Hey, besides the side splitting - how do you like the 452's? Are they quiet? I've read that they are suppose to be a very quiet tire - are they?

And ... how's the performance? Any tramaling (following the groves in the road) or do they track straight?

If you've only had them a month take them back to where you bought them - one would think the shop would just replace it as defective. This would be good customer service and shouldn't even be an issue. I would think Falkin would have some type of warranty on these tires.

Let us all know what happens! But leave some feedback on my questions above as I'm considering this tire the next time I need new shoes. Thanks!

Scott

You made no mention of things such as the manufacture date of the tire.
I'm assuming you bought these from a dealer?

Not too sure where to find the manufacturing date. I think the fk452's are a new series of tire that they have.

So far they are quiet and have a nice tread pattern. Pretty comfortable tire to ride on and the car drives well with them on. The service from where I got them wasn't that good and the person that handles the warranty said that I would have to buy a new one and have the old one shipped to him to inspect it, then they would replace it. They told me to go to sears, one of there dealers and have them inspect it but sears doesn't know sh#t.
I think I just got a bad tire and the run around. But I notice a lot of people run these here. Anyone have a problem like this???

the actual model fk452 from falken just came out .. there is no way that this tire was "expired".. please be more aggressive towards falken and the shop who sold you the tire. you need to be persistent and you will get reimbursed one way or another. dont just say "oh well" live and learn..

Update...Went to Americas Tire today and they are getting me a new one.
I couldn't believe that I had to go to like 4 shops for a professional opinion.
Falkens engineer is an idiot too, cheap *** couldn't send me out a tire after I sent multiple pics and copy of reciept showing 2/22/07.
Persistent, yes every dollar counts.

Sorry to hear about your hassles in getting a new tire.
You should write a "Thank You" to America Tire corporate, and be sure to note the location that helped you out.

The date of manufacture, should be after the DOT numbers. (2nd link has pics and better explanation)

I had to check all my tires after reading this but they just fine. For those who are asking I think the FK452s are very nice tires. It's unfortunate what happened to jasonm but other than that they've held up quite nice. Only gripe I have is my rear tires are going out fast but I think its more my fault than the tires.
