Question Anyone here Painted/PowderCoated their wheels?

A SELOCer painted his IS factory rims flat black and then glossy black and it looks great. I was thinking of painting or getting painted my BBS wheels in gunmetal or a dark grey finish before I slap them on.

Any pros and cons to this? Has anyone done this procedure? Should I just pay to have someone do it?

Sigh......I'm so confused on the route I want to go with my GS, thus the very limited modding thus far.

I think it would look great either Gunmetal or Black. Question is do you want the hassle of doing it yourself or let a pro do it were you have warranty against any defects and that it can be replaced free of charge..

I like your idea.....

Mike when you're up here talk to Dex about it. He's had at least two sets of wheels powdercoated for his M Coupe.

Here's one set

Excellent! I did not know that. Looks great.

tmf, my good bud and CL member two-times has a black GS with 20" black I-forged, no way I'm getting black wheels

Ok I guess skip the Black.. The powdercoated pic that Dave posted actually looks good.. Keep us posted on your decision.. Gold may be an option as well.. Just a thought don't flame me..LOL

If I had beige leather, more than likely I would have went with gold

Someone with 2GS 5-spokers did it. Crap, who the heck was that. Lemme do some searching and get back to you.

Here it is. I thought it might have been Cliffud:

And, by the way, it looks like you've been considering this for a while, huh?

Whats up with the rolleyes? I've only considered this with the new wheels, which I've only had 3 months.

Have them powder coated, more than likely the paint will tear when the tires get mounted. Or a few months down the road, then you get to try to touch them up on the car, or get to pay to have them un-mounted again.

I was trying to poke fun, and obviously I didn't do a very good job of it. I was just commenting on the fact that you posted in a thread on the exact same subject over 3 years ago. Anyway, I didn't mean anything by it.

Anyway, hopefully the other thread helped.

There is the alternative of prepping the wheels first, and then having the tires mounted. After this is done, you can mask off the tire and finish coat the wheels. No need to worry about paint chipping off when the tires get put on. The finish will turn out the same.

Hey Mike send a PM to RMMGS4

He did this to his Enkei's before he sold them.

Coolbeans e-man.
Well Dex (ex GS 400 owner here with HRE's) came over Dave's last night and showed his fantastic s/c M coupe hatchback. And he showed me his powdercoated BBS wheels. Looked VERY good.

Thanks everyone.
