Default 20x9 rim in front....245/30/20 or 255/30/20

Is there any advantage at all in buying 255/30/20 over a 245/30/20...or will they basically be the same.

If you don't know what the variable in your tire size means, then how are you suppose to make a decision on which is best for YOU? Hopefully the 20" wheel you pick will have the correct offset and not decapitate the fender. I'd run a 245/35/20 IF you get the correct offset.

Exactly my point. I didn't say I didn't know the difference, I simply asked if there was an advantage. You said you would run a 245...why? There has to be a reason.

I agree with Aristo300, 245/35/20 would be best. I'm currently running a 255/35/20 and it rubs the fender liners when rides gets a little bumpy and tires look kinda bulky.

Ok, I'll answer the question. The advantage of going with the 255mm tire would be the extra rubbing. That being said... if you want to rub more, get a 255, if you want it to look better and rub less, go with the 245.

Went with 255, no rubbing. Rubbing depends on the car.....not the tire size.

True. Rubbing will depend on the combination of rim spec, tire spec, offset, AND the car it is going on. You never specified what car it was going to go on. Maybe some just assumed.
