damn tires...,
I thought I was done when finally picking a wheel I like, but ran into some tire questions. Please help all you wheel experts.
I am getting 18x8.5 all around, and want to be able to rotate my tires, for maintenance reasons. The tires I was looking at Yokohama AVS DB, or Kumho supra, I was told they both are directional tires, and I will not be able to do cross rotation (left side to right side) with them? I can only rotate them from front to back only.
My dilemma now:
1. what are some non-directional tires that are around the same price range? Wheel shop also told me that most new tires nowadays are all directional tires for better performance reasons.
2. How much of a difference does it make having non-directional tires in longer tire wear? Are we talking about 3k, 5k, 10K miles ..etc diff in tire life??
If the differences doesn't amount to much, I may consider go staggered on the wheels, which I was informed that I can at least flip (taking the tires off the wheel, and remount them on the opposite side of the car's wheel??) the tires from left to right.

most if not all highperformance tires come in directional or assimetrical (inners and outers) directions most 18" tires are highperformance there for directional. im not sure if they come in the sizes you want but check out the yokohama parada the can be cris crossed but not flipped if not pirelli p-zeros can also be cris crossed if they are the assismetrical application www.wheelsboutique.com

I was just told by the wheel shop that I should get 265-35-18 for my rear if I was going to do stagger with either 18x9.5, or 18x10 wheel. They said the 275 would rub. suggestions?
also, anyone has any idea avg tire life on 18 inch wheels? or difference between having same size, and staggered?

Lex430 - it depends on the offset of the 18x10's...you might need a 265 to prevent rubbing...but with the right offset, you can definitely do 275's...it also depends on how LOW you want to lower your car...you can put 295's but if you hit a serious dip with some people in the back, you're going to hit your fender which is also your quarter panel (that's one panel you do NOT want to messed up...)
