Supra TT Wheel tire recommendations?
I've noticed that some folks go with 245/45 front tires insteaed of 245/40 when paired with 275/40 rear tires? Wouldn't it be better to keep the car more level by using tires with the same sidewall height (i.e. 40)? I've been eye-balling the Kumho Ecsta SPT tires. Does anyone have any experience with them and what would you all recommend? (I'm under the impression that 275 rears and 245 width front tires is the best street daily driven combo)

PS-I recommend running at least some 5mm spacers with your TT wheels for a flush look, otherwise they'll be sunken in a little, like mine, lol

For width, yeah, 275's in the rear and 245's in the front. But as far as sidewall height goes it's a little tricky. With my 19's I run 275/30 rear tires and 245/35 front tires and they match up perfectly in terms of sidewall height. On TT wheels I'm running 245/45 and 265/40 at the moment (couldn't find any 275/40's when I was looking and needed tires asap). Hope this helps a little more.

Yep, it's normal...something about the wider tires in the rear needing a shorter sidewall to match up with thinner tires up front with a slightly taller sidewall. The difference in only like 20mm but it does dramatically affect the look and stance.
I'd say any bolt on spacers such as H&R would be good. It's not a "must" but it does improve the look a lot.

A sidewall height of 40 means that the sidewall is 40% of the treadwidth. So, if you have a front tire that's 245/40, the sidewall is roughly 98mm. Then if the rear is a 275/35, the sidewall is roughly 96mm. Very close. If the rear was also a 40 series, then the rear sidewall would be 110mm. Much bigger difference.

The mikester is right on track. I just also wated to point out what 40/45/50 means.

After testing some different tires and speaking with a tire guru I trust, I've decided to get these tires:
Kumho Ecsta 711
Since the widest they make this tire is 255, would I be okay going with 255's in the rear instead of 275 width tires? One thing I want is good wet traction and I was told that 275 or "wider tires" are more prone to sliding in rain. If this is true, and since my turbo sc (with torsen limited slip differential) makes 400rwhp, will these 255 rears be okay overall?
Lastly, is it still a good idea to get 245 width tires in the front, thus having:
Front: 245/45/17 --> 110.25mm sidewall height
Rear: 255/55/17 --> 140.25mm sidewall height
Or should put 255/55/17 on all 4 tires? (is 255 width too wide for the fronts?)
Thanks again for all the help

Well,
I liked the way the 711's handle and like their tread design. What a lot of those "reviews" on tirerack, etc do not test is consistency. Nevertheless, after more thought, I think the Kumho Ecsta 711's irregularly matched super tall rear sidewall is a bad idea. So, I've decided to pay slighty more and get these:
Kumho Ecsta ASX(KU21)
rear: 275/40/17 (110mm sidewall height)
front: 245/45/17 (110.25mm sidewall height)

I have used all of the Kumho tires at one point in time...
the only ones I've liked are the newer SPT and the tried and true MX...
The ASX's aren't bad for a long life all season tire, but performance of anything other than the SPT or MX is just marginal at best...
i've said it time and time again, if you are looking for one of the best street performance tires, go with the BFG KDW NT (aka KDW2) they are a tad louder than some other competitors, but they are cheap for the performance you get...
the only other street high performance tire I rank them with is the Kumho MX for price vs performance...
