Default Wheels and Tire fitment

I'm sure this question has been asked a 1000 times, but I could not find a post. I am looking to upgrade from OEM wheels and tires on my '03 GS3. The plan is to go with front - 18 x 8 (38mm offset) and rear - 18 x 9 (35mm offset) staggered. My questions are:

1. Will this offset work?
2. Can I go with 245s on the front and 265s on the back?

Offsets will be fine. You can do 245/40/18 and 265/35/18.

I have G35 wheels which are 18x8 +30 and they are wrapped in 245/45/18.

The offsets will be good. You should have no rubbing issues unless you slam the car.

real quick, could I go as high as 275 in the rear? would that adversely affect acceleration and braking?

Thanks!

I guess you could go 275/35/18 on a 9" rim, but 255/265 would be ideal. No need for the 275's.

^^I agree with mikevanle. If you were going to run a 10.5 width rim then 275's would work. But that is waay to big for a 9" width wheel, the side wall would look silly and would not match the front to well. Sitck with the 255 or run stretched 245 or 235's in the rear and stretched 225's in the front, ahah.

275/35-18 (from BFGoodrich) suggested wheel width - 9"-11"
265/35-18: 9"-10.5"

either one works fine...

Both sizes would work. 245/275 would be closest to OEM diameter. I like 235/275 since it keeps the front wheel diameter slightly smaller than the rear. I just like that look better although with these sizes, it is not really that visible. We are talking about .2" here. LOL.

Fitting comfortably, however, I like 235/265 on a 8/9 staggered width combo. There are also factors in tire build from model to model, manufacturer to manufacturer so it is not an absolute do this or do that.

Bottomline is they should all work OK. The sizes are not overly extreme.
