Default Emergency tire availablity

What is it with the availablity of tires when you need one. I run PZero Nero's 245/40/18's on my SC430 and had a flat the other day. Ended up that the puncture was located too close to the edge of the thread so it could not be repaired. I live in KC Missouri area which is a pretty large area and the local tire dealer could not find a PZero Nero in my size in the KC area. He even called all of the other PZero dealers in town. He ended up having to order one and it is taking from Monday morning until this coming Wed. afternoon (2 days) to get one in and mounted. You would think that PZero Nero's in the 245/40/18 size would not be that unusual??? What a pain in the AZZ!!! Anyone else having this type of problem getting replacement tires? When I replace the PZeros is there a more common brand that might be more available when the need ever arises again?

One of the negatives of specialty tires and wheels.

Maybe you should purchase two replacements.

I would but based on other posts this is a rare occurance. In this present day and age 245/40/18 PZero Neros should not be rare. A lot of cars run 18's.

from my experience (but then i deal with tires for larger diameter rims), for common and famous brands, you easily run into backorder for common sizes, even for michelin.

Thanks, my local PZero dealer got it in today (Douglas Tire in Lee's Summit Missouri). Ordered Monday afternoon and had it in and mounted and balanced by Wed. at 1:30 in the afternoon. They charged me $217 which included mounting and balancing and taxes. Tirerack wanted $160 plus shipping and by the time I paid to have it mounted and balanced it would of been close to the same price, so I figure I got a real good deal. After I got the new tire installed I found out I had a nail in the other rear tire. I'm sure I got it at the same time I ruined my other rear tire. Tire pressure was down to 26 lbs after the nail had been in the tire for 3 days. They repaired patched that tire for no charge. Normally that should of cost me $20. I think tirerack is great but when I have a local shop that is this good you have to do business with them.
