Tire Pressure Monitor System question:

Tire Pressure Monitor System question:
Is each set of TPMS specific for each car, or can TPMS monitors be switched from one car to another (that also has the TPMS)? I was thinking of trading wheels but don't know if I need to switch the TPMS monitors between them...

You can move them between cars. Each TPMS just transmits a unique serial #. The computer in your car only pulls data from the serial #'s that it knows about. If you swap with someone, you need the dealer to register the serial #'s of the new TPMS sensors (and delete the old serial #'s if that's what you want).
Each car can memorize 2 complete sets of wheels (A & B, for those who have winter tires, etc). There's a switch that lets you switch between the A & B set of wheels. On the 3GS, the switch is on the passenger side, below the glove box, in the footwell. Once you switch between the A & B set, you also have to tell the computer to re-initialize it's pressure readings. Again, on the 3GS, the button to re-initialize the sensors is on the drivers side, in the footwell, directly below the steering wheel (you'll have to poke your head underneath there to find it). Just press and hold the button until the car display says that it's completed the initialization.
