Question NYC Potholes? 255 or 245 all around on 18x8.5

I got the L-Sportline M-IV rims 8.5" wide. I have right now 245/40/18 but will be needing new tires soon. Looking to get All-Season tires. NYC potholes sucks not to mention I already have my car lowered and so forth. Should I upgrade to 255/40/18 or stick with 245/40/18. I am more concerned with comfortness and quietness rather than performance.

Thanks!

I think you should stick with the 245. Reason being it's a much better fit for a 8.5" rim and if you were to go with a 255, it might bulge slightly on the sides. As far as which one will give a more confortable ride, I don't think there would be much difference since a 255/40/18 is only .5" taller in rolling diameter than a 245/40/18.

Thanks for .2 cents. Will do. I was afraid of the bulging out from the rims.

Jay, that 'bulging' does offer you a great deal of protection from curb rash though.

Touche! I guess will see my gut feeling once I buy them in a few months. Thanks for the input!
