Default Decent wheels that are reasonably priced?

Hello all, I've been using the search function and also checked out D2Autosport's website in a search for 19 inch wheels. I honestly don't think I can afford HRE's, BBS, or even IForged and DPE. I've seen some wheels on Ebay and other sites offering brands such as Stern, etc .which seem reasonably priced. But the quality would not be there because I've heard Stern were bought out by ADR. Anybody have any wheel manufacturer recommendations? I guess in terms of quality and price I'm looking for something in between Stern and IForged. Am I just better off sitting around and waiting for a used set of IForged or DPE wheels? I know it's a Lexus and the car deserves a really high quality set of wheels like HRE and BBS, but I can't see myself spending $4000-$5000 on a set of wheels. That's equivalent to the amount financed for the car. I've also read up about the "fat" tire set up. Would this mean 40 series all around?

First off, welcome to CL

On the wheels, what is your budget like for rims and tires? That will help narrow down the choices. D2Autosport has some nice affordable choices alongside higher end brands. Not all of us can afford high priced wheels...some like me opt for more affordable and practically priced wheels which can still look great on your car if you pick the right style, color, etc. Ive seen some on here with wheels off of ebay, and their GS's look as nice as the next persons.

Its all up to you and how much you can afford to spend, or what your budget allows. Good luck with your choice

those work EXXE rims are a good price. I'd buy them if i didn't have a set waiting to be put on the car already. 1,000 for the new set? not bad, not bad...

here's a tip though- look for a set of wheels on here with tires already included... if you buy new - it's the cost of the tires that really hits your pocket book.

Thank you all for your input. I'm looking to maybe spend no more than $1500 for a staggered set of 19's. I will definately check out Work's wheels. I also browsed through the vendor GB section and also saw some staggered 19" Status RR Mesh wheels for $1050. Sounds like a great deal. But I'll most likely sit and wait on someone who is "tired" of their wheels and opting for something new so I can get a good deal on wheels and tires. I still love the look of mesh wheels and 5 spoke wheels-- with a nice lip in the back of course.

I know what you mean by tires hitting the pocketbooks. My previous car was an 01' Cobra with 18x9 and 18x10.5 wheels with 275/40 in front and 315/40 out back. I've been out of the import scene for awhile so I don't know much about new manufacturers that have emerged. I feel like such a No0b again.

P.S. Mikal, your car looks awesome! I saw a few pics of it in the LED tailight thread. What kind of wheels do you have? I definately want to those tailights also. I think they make any color GS look so much better.

Welcome to CL!! If you do end up going with new tires check out the Tire Rack, a CL vendor. I recently purchased 4 - 245/35/19" Generals delivered to Alaska for just over $500. Make sure you use the provided link here at CL, that way CL gets a small donation towards maintaining the website. Good Luck in your search, it's not an easy one on a budget.

Stefan,
Thanks for providing me with that direct link. My computer must have loaded really slowly so when I checked out your wheel page I scrolled down to HRE, BBS etc. and did not catch the link to the 1 pc. staggered wheels up top. I spent a good 2 hours looking at wheels on your website. That's probably more of what I'm looking for since I can't afford 3 pc. forged wheels. I think those Status wheels look great! Very affordable price too!

P.S. Do you have any pics of 2nd gen. GS's with the Status RR Mesh in 19"?

LEXSOOS, thanks for posting that pic. That is close to what I had in mind-- 19x8.5 and 19x9.5. I'd probably go with the Status RR Mesh in black. The car is silver and chrome might be too much on silver. I think the chrome would look better if the GS was black. Is the 5mm spacers you're running for clearing the BBK calipers or is just to push the wheels a bit further out to sit flush with the fender flare?

Style aside I can tell you the Status RR are nice wheels, I have the RR6 in gunmetal and am very happy with them. I got mine from D2 as well and the price was fantastic. I agree with you on going for black, chrome isn't so hot on on a silver car, mine is silver and the gunmetal sets it off nicely.

Yeah. Just by their website, I wouldn't think D2 would sell low quality stuff. It would be perfect if the Status RR Mesh came in gunmetal. Black would look better IMO even though it's kind of "played out." Plus I don't think I can keep the chrome ones polished and shiny all the time.
