ok so i want to get custom rims for my 02 sc 430. i have some questions. do you need a certain kit to fit rims or do most rims fit right onto a stock sc?

the most common thing you need is the hub ring which is like $15 at your local american tire or discount tire center. other than that, just make sure you have the right bolt pattern, offset.

What's that 'ring' for? Never heard of that before.

And what's the stock offset for the SC, and what's the maximum safe offset/width for aftermarket wheels in order to fit the tires closer to the fender? I want to go 19s to minimize the added unsprung weight, and also to avoid a dorky look of the small stock rotors. Really liked a 5-spoke wheel somebody posted on a thread today (will look for it again to write down the model). Thanks.

As to stock offset, I don't know. You can go 19x9 +23 and 19x10 +23.

5 spokes???? what about some JDM, Trafficstar DTS polish finished will be nice~~ although rominl may not like that idea.

If u get the domestic forged wheels, the wheels are custom to fit already. If u get the JDM wheels, u might need hub-centric rings, but not all the time.

not necessarily. for iforged it used to be the case that you couldn't get hub centric design. and now it's an option but not default.

not sure about other domestic wheels like dpe or so
