I'm in the process of acquiring a '98 SC400. I have a short list of BPU mods I would like to start with. Wheels and tires are of course included on that list. So, here is my question:
I will be lowering with Eibach Pro Kit springs. I would like to go with 19x8.5 wheels and 245/40/19 tires. I don't want to do any modification to the fenders. So, will I be all right with this set up? Also, what offset should I be looking for?

Check with the tire shop that you will be purchasing the rims/tires from. They will have a data base of the factory offsets and conversion offsets for different tire sizes. They will be able to sell you the right part.
Being as you're not going to some monster tire size, the factory offset should be fine, but check with the sales rep. The last thing they want to do is have to take back a brand new rim that has had a tire mounted to it. Manufactures will only take back a faulty rim, not one that is the wrong application. They will be stuck keeping the rim in the store inventory. They don't like doing that!
