I would like to get some new wheels down the road and have some concerns with the change. If I go to either an 18" or a 19" wheel, what will the larger wheels do to the ride quality? I love the way the car rides on the stock wheels, but would like to have a nicer looking wheel in the future. Would a factory 17" or 18" lexus wheel be a better choice as far as retaining ride quality?

wheel brand doesnt matter on ride quality, its the tire brand, sidewall size. I go from my factory 15in rims to my 18in rims all the time (bad luck with tires), and i dont really feel any difference.

Well i guess i do. The only difference i can tell is the cornering SUCKS on the 15in rims. Acceleration is a TAD better, but conering is scary from sidewall flex. With the 18s on its rock solid.

I went from the stock 15s to 18s.

As mentioned, cornering ability/feel is very different. Much more solid and not as "floaty". Also, switching to 18s, gives more solid road feel.

I think the SC should have come w/ at least 17s from the factory. I'm happy w/ my 18s.

i put my 18's on wrapped in some good quality Falkans.. It rides MUCH better than the 15's.. No road noise and smooth.. Also if you do get them, make sure u balance and rotate them on time because those 18's wear quick and once they wear, LOTS of tire noise and possible vibrations

are 18's safe for driving in the rain and winter? if the tire sidewall size is 40?

All the debates on suspension aside, there is no replacing rubber. If your stock wheels are 15s or 16s, you will lose the softness when going any bigger, even with 17s. With performance tires, 2 things contribute to this loss: less rubber and stiffer rubber.

There is always a compromise. It just depends on what your tolerance is.
