I have a RX300 AWD with Bridgestone Alenza 225/70/16 tires purchased from the local Costco warehouse. I take it there for rotation every 4000 to 5000 miles.

The Costco (and also the Lexus dealer) usually only rotate the front tires to the back.
What's the difference between front-back and x-pattern rotation?(left-front to right-rear, right-front
left-rear, for example)

if your alignment is good, then i think front back rotation is good enough

but if you worry about alignment settings too, i usually suggest:
rear passenger -> front passenger
front passenger -> rear driver
rear driver -> front driver
front driver -> rear passenger

that's, of course, if you stay with non-directional or assymetric tires

Rominl is right on this. If you don't do nutso driving like I do (racing, Mexico City daily driving) the front back will do you fine.

My tires last about 25,000 miles and I rotate every 6K. The first two times I do an X and then the last two times front to back. That's just me and based on a lot of people I have talked to down here.
