Default bolt/wheel issue

i don't know how to best describe my problem. i'll tell you what i know and hopefully one of you can help. when i got my car it came with 17" lexus 5 spoke wheels. i upgraded to 19" moda r6 wheels. i recently purchased a set of 16" factory wheels and when i tried to get them put on, they were able to do it, but said something about the bolt is matching up perfectly with the threading on the screws, which means that over the course of time the bolts may loosen and a wheel (or more) may come off? they put the wheels on two days ago. i went back today (per their request) for them to re-tighten. all seems ok for the most part, but the guy said that there was a little give with a couple of the bolts. is this an easy problem to fix? where should i go to get the proper bolts? i hope my description of this problem isn't too confusing.

seems like either the studs or the nuts are stripped? if so, you definitely need to re-tread the studs if they are repairable, or better yet just get new ones

Is this a thread engagement problem? The nuts aren't engaging well enough or a thread pitch problem? A thread pitch problem would be unusual, not having enough thread egagement when you switch wheels and keep the same lugs is very common. You should get 6 full turns.

or somewhere down the line someone used an impact gun to put on the lugs w/o hand tighten them first.

if i remember correctly, the guy had said something about the bolt being beveled, so it kinda has a traditional bolt look, but the top part of the bolt angles in. the end result is that instead of getting the full amount of turns, i'm only getting a little more than half. he said that it could be a problem, or it might not be. i hope that helps you in understanding what the problem is...

if it is a thread engagement issue, how do i fix it?

Ah I thought it was a thread engagemet problem, 6 full turns is what you need. If you don't get 6 get different lugs that have the proper amount of turns.

how do i go about finding the right kind of lugs? considering the guy at the auto repair place didn't have a suitable replacement, i'm assuming that it isn't something that can be found/acquired at just any auto place.

I would try a local speed shop or wheel shop that stocks hardware.
