Aftermarket 18's
So a friend of mine has a 2002 SC430 with runflat option - he went to "standard" tires when the OEM runflats wore out to enjoy the better ride quality....lately a slight shake has started to appear at highways speeds and the dealer has indicated after a rotation that three of the four wheels are bent, and one tire shows "impact damage".
Anyway, rather than replacing the OEM wheels, he's considering using the "bent" OEMs for winter use, and going aftermarket for the summer. He's not interested in upgrading to wider/bigger wheels, so what is the proper fit (offset, etc) for aftermarket wheels in the same sizes as stock? Most of the fitment FAQ's/guides I could find show the +1/+2 upgrades to 19's or 20's.

Stock SC430 rims are 18 x 8 , +45 offset. Bolt pattern 5 x 114.3
I do know 18 x 8 with +38 offset will work fine too.

OK I found a decent buy on a set that are 18x8 +38mm F
18x9 +38mm R.
Will these still fit with the stock 18 inch tires? I am thinking fitment in the rear with a 9 inch wide wheel instead of 8 inch (stock) *should* move the wheels "out" a bit, closer to flush with the fender edges? And the +38 offset will move them out compared to the stockers at +45 as well? I just don't want these to being "sitcking out" past the fender edges or creating any issues with the stock suspension or fender rubbing....

Well my friend with the car isn't really concerned with the "looks" of the fitment relative to the fenders - he wants a nice wheel with the stock tire size, a more flush fit is a "bonus" in his books but not necessary.
I just wanted to make sure it wasn't going to move them out TOO much to stick past or rub the fenders.
