What is better for traction on the street?
a 275/40/17 or a 295/35/18? Assume both tires are drag radials on the same rim. Granted you have a wider tire on the 18" rim, but the 17" rim will have a less weight and more sidewall. I would love to hear some thoughts...

295's will definitely have a better traction but will loose some performance due to weigh and diameter of the tire. Bigger the diameter of the tire more performance loss you have.
275-40-17 (25.7 inches) 29lbs
295-35-18 (26.1 inches) 30lbs
