Default New tires for the GS

I am planning on getting a new set of tires for my stock rims. I was told by some GS owners that we need to have our tires balanced at the Lexus dealer or the rims wont be balanced correctly because Lexus has a special machine to balance the Lexus wheels.

Can some one please tell me if this is correct? or can I just go to any tire shop and have them mount and balance them for me.

Where would be a cheap place to buy tires for the stock 17in Rims for the GS?

Thanks in advance for all the help.

I think the owners that told you this are the same people that believe they need a new muffler bearing. Wheels are wheels, any reputable wheel/tire shop can balance for you.

Key word, reputable. Ask around and see if any of your buddies know of a good place to mount and ballance tires. I order my tires from Tirerack.com. They have great prices, and give you all the information you need to make an imformed decision on the tires you are buying. I had a local shop mount and ballance them and only paid $17 per wheel.

Good luck in your quest bro.

Not true some tire shops all they got is regular machine . must of this machines leave a vibration when you doing 45 and 55 mph .but defenatly don't go to lexus for this they w'll charge you an arm and a leg for this job. When i had my GS4 I had this problem (vibration) I when to so many shops and spend a lot money t'll some of the CL members recomended it this machine http://www.gsp9700.com/pub/technical/4127T/4127t.cfm I did a search for my near place that has them. in my case was Westbury Toyota. they fix the problem one shot.

I agree. Which is why I said reputable. Going to Joe's jiffy tire/lube/AC/fast food joint would probably lead to some problems.

But a well known, professional shop should be a non-issue.

the Lex dealers use road force balancers and the GS is very sensitive to wheel balance. that is what you were thinking of. my Lex dealer will road force balance all 4 for $100. local tire store road force balance is about $60.

I called Ganin Tire.. and the shop in LI they charge $45 per tire and in the BK store they charge $30 per tire to mount and balance 235/45/17s

doesn't that sound a lot to mount and balance tires?

yes, considering the lex dealer here charges $100 for all 4 and that also includes mount and balance.

Blizzaks are Bridgestone brand. They are winter-only.
Dunlop also makes good inexpensive all-seasons.
Check out Tirerack.com for choices and pricing and reviews.
