Default Are wheels with wide lips bad for performance and street use?

Wondering if anyone has had problems with wide-lipped wheels. They look nice, but I'm wondering if they can take the load during hard cornering and street use. Can they be damaged easily (bent lips) and should they only be used for show?

i don't think so, i think it's more about the construction of the wheel, the material used, and the structural design. keep in mind, if you have a wide wheel, if you don't have much lip on the outside, you have a lot of lip "inside" anyway.
