Default just when you think how important tire selection is...

let me tell you, it's hella important....

together with the rims (i suppose), it totally tells you what's the handling, quietness, ride, comfort, vibration, etc....

so finally today i took off my hre and put back on the stock 17s with bridgestone re030 (i think) tires.... going from 245/35 and 275/30 to 245/45, that's a lot more sidewall. and going from 8.5 and 10 to 8, that's narrower. and going from 20s to 17s, smaller overall diameter and normal people wuld think "lighter".... so i was expecting some ride improvement.....

gosh was i totally wrong..... my car is SLOWER! so ask me why, but the car is slower, more sluggish..... and the handling is WAY worse of course...... it's not even funny. i totally have to forget about turning fast now.....

and most of all, the ride is HORRIBLE.... the tires are sooooo loud, and somehow they are so damn stiff! the ride is actually more bumper than the 20s imho, and the road noise is just bad..... and these tires only had like 5k miles before i put on aftermarket wheels....

man..... i am really surprised.... i love (and miss....) my pzero nero...

I couldn't agree more. I thought the ride would improve when I switched back to 16's, from 18's. The ride quality became much worse, the tires whined after 60mph and it just didn't handle like the 18's. I switched over to 19's and the low profile Pirelli's I ride on now are so much more quiet and comfortable than the good years I had on the 16's.

Hey Henry:
Those bridgestone re030 are nothing but crap. If you want an all season tire with good ride and good handling on your stock 17's, try the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S. I use them for my winter setup and they are an excellent all season tire. Only down side is price.

believe me, these tires are really crap. thank god i wasn't the one paying for them, the previous owner changed them right before he sold the car to me, and i just changed to aftermarket soon after

argh... it's really taking away my driving desire...

Funny I took them off because I wanted more grip, but theyre certainly not bad for all season tires. They are pricey though.

And since I got this tires, may I suggest Falken Azenis GRBetas 451s? or must it be an all season tire? You can read my post I just made about them right below this one.. .

hahhaa well to be specific i was only blaming on the re030 the so3 are actually pretty nice, awesome handling tires, i don't deny that. but it's pretty loud and when it wears, it wears fast and loud. but guess i am getting old, so driving fast isn't my first priority
