and between 245/35 and 255/35, we are talking about 3.5mm difference on the sidewall height. to be honest i think that's way too minimal to worry about

BUT

Most run 35 because

1. For a long time there was not much selection for 30 series tires to fit out car. There is a little more now but still not great. Less choices also equals premium cost for the ones that are available.

2. The sidewalls with 30 series will be very thin. Ride quality would suck even worse. Wheel damage would have higher chances since there is even less rubber protection. The sidewalls are stiffer but there is just less of it.
noob alert... but aren't the rears already 30-series? i thought rears would have to be at least 275/30/20?

are there any abs issues?

thanks neo.

The rears are 30 series because it is a 275 width. The series is a percentage so the width and percentage needs to work out to similar numbers: 275 * .3 = 82.5mm and 245 * .35 = 85.75mm ==> 3.25mm difference.

The sizes are not WAY out there so abs should be OK.

I have a 2007 GS350. My goal is actually 255/35/20 & 285/35/20 with front:+38 and rear:+43....is it possible? do I really have to go with 30 in the rear? BTW, i'm NOT going to lower the car, what would be the best width of wheels for my setting?....thanks for the help!!!

that is wrong diameter, too tall in the back. 285/30/20 is a better match to the front

Well, you need 30 series in the rear if you want the wheel diameters to match up.

Sorry, I have one more dumb question. Why the rear has to be 30 to match up the 35 in the front? is it because the GS is rear wheel drive car? If I put 35 at all four corners without lower the car, will it be any problems to the car on performance?

LOL. Did you not read the post from me that you quoted above?

HAHA. Just giving you a hard time. Seriously, though, that is the explanation.

OK, here is my final decision....HAHA. How about 20 X 9 +38 in front with 255/35/20 or 245/35, and the rear is 20 X 10 +43 with 285/30/20? w/o lower the car or any fender works. Will that be too aggresive? will the rear be too stick out the fender? Thanks for your helps....

BTW, the diameters for 2007 GS and previous GS model are pretty much the same, rite?

How much are you lowered? Im on Tanabe DF210's and curious to see if 20's would fit ok on mine without modification to the fenders.
