Davin 6.1's: 20x10 or 20x10.5 rears?
I know that people have mixed opinions about spinning wheels...
But, I like them and hopefully I can get some help and not get flamed by anyone.
Here's the deal...
I have a set of 20" Davin Revolution 6.1 Chrome/Chrome rims on my 3GS 430. They are 20x8.5 (2.5" outter lip & 6" inner) fronts w/ 245/35/20 and 20x9.5 (2.5" outter lip & 7" inner) rears w/ 275/30/20 Michelin Pilot Sport A/S. I am having them sent back and remade because of clearance issues (rubbing on the lips of the fender).
The fronts will be remade as a 20x9 (2" outter lip & 7" inner) and will use 255/30/20's Pilot Sport A/S instead of the 245/35/20's. The rears will be remade as a 20x10 (2" outter lip & 8" inner lip) and will reuse the 275/30/20's.
I remeasured the clearance in the rear today and believe that I could actually fit a 20x10.5 in the rear instead of a 20x10. The 275/30/20 tire is designed to fit a 9.0-10.0" rim, not a 10.5". If I were to order the 10.5" instead I would want/NEED to use a 295/25/20 tire.
Here lies my problem...
Cons:
1) I already have the 275/30/20's
2) I don't want to spend MORE money (over $600-700) on the 295/25/20 tires
3) 295/25/20's are not made by many companies
Pro's:
1) wider rim in the rear (10.5" vs. 10.0")
2) wider tire in the rear (295 vs. 275)
3) 295/25/20 is closer to the overall diameter of the OEM 245/40/18's
Guys (and girls), please help!!!

I would be leery of running 255/35/20's on front 20 X 9 rims. I think you'll have rubbing issues. I would stay with the 245/35/20 fronts and ideally would use 285/30/20's on the back rims 20 X 10 or 20 X 10.5. You could go with the 295/25/20's on the 20 X 10.5 if you want the wider tire, but I think the 285 is a good choice also.
I'm not sure what offset your rims are/or going to be but the offset is important to avoiding problems with fender tab/liner rubbing. I use 20 X 9 +38 fronts with 254/35/20 Michelin PS A/S' and 20 X 10 +43 rears with 285/30/20 Michelin PS A/S'. I do rub occasionally in the front ( not bad, though ) over bumps and when backing out with full steering lock. Also I am lowered to slightly less than one finger gap. Good luck.

My bad Did not know you had a 3rd gen GS. I don't know about the offsets/sizes on the 3rd gen, but your fronts will be larger diameter than the rears if you choose 255/35/20s ( by about a .25" compared to 285/30/20s, about .5" for 275/30/20s, and about 1.2" bigger than 295/25/20s ).

ok here's what i think. you didn't state the offset so it's hard to help. but 255 on the 9 for the front on the 3gs, that's very tight. in fact i don't really recommend it, i think it's too easy to rub, it's just too close. i would rather stay with 245 on 9 in the front, which is a good setup imho
for the back, i am pretty sure if you do the offset right, 10.5 in the back is no problem. in fact, 11 fits on the 2gs easy with the right offset, so it should be the case for the 3gs imho. and about tires in the back, why don't you use 285 on the 10.5, that's also a good option. especially if you have 245 in the front, the 285 is actually a perfect match.
if you have 255 in the front, yes, 295 in the back will be the match. and yes, there are 295/25/20, at least the ps2 have that size, it's on rmmgs4's car.
but imho, i don't like those sidewall for daily driving, too low. if i were you, i would do 245/35 and 285/30 on 9 and 10.5. and keep in mind, if you really do 295/25 on the 10.5, watch out for rubbing again. it doesn't have the kind of stretching 275 has on the 10, so meaning you need more clearance
and btw, i don't really care much about overall diameter, the speedo if off by so little only anyway

By the way, Davin's director of Operations decided not to sent me a replacement set of rims rebuilt properly and is going to actually allow me to return this set to them for a refund. I guess they thought that this set couldn't be resold and would be scrapped so they didn't want to give up another set.
I have on order a set of 20x8.5f (+38) & 20x9.5r (+45) Lexion Type 203 (black face) that should arrive in about a month or two. I will also be swithing tires to the Toyo Proxes T1-R's 245/35/20 & 275/30/20.
I have 20" staggered Volk GT-C's on my G35 Coupe and really like the quality of the Volk's, and Lexion's are also mde by Ray's, just like Volk's.

the new offsets are a lot better. the front looks good, the rear you could have gone a few mm more aggressive
and you are right about the tires, the ones you pick are oem diameter. but i wouldn't wanna run those when the car is my daily driver, too thin of a sidewall
