Default Excessive noise from Bridgestone Potenza S0-3 tires??

Did a search on the title of this thread but didn't find anything.

I have Bridgestone Potenza S0-3 tires on my car (245/40/18 front and 275/35/18 rear). They have about 10K miles on them (approximately).

They are annoyingly noisy now, especially under 50 MPH.

All of you that have these tires, what is your experience with them in terms of noise?

The noise is so obvious to me because I also drive my wifes Maxima and there is zero tire noise from her car. And I am pretty sure it is not wind or engine noise. Those types of noise are completely different. This is just tire noise.

I used to have S03's on my car too and they start to make a lot of noise once they are worn.

I guess there's no such thing as a perfect tire.

How much mileage did you have on yours before they became noisy? Mine still have a lot of tread left (at least I think so - considering that the grooves in the tires are still very clearly defined).

I find it hard to believe that the life of these tires is so short..............

hameed, actually i think it's been discussed couple of times

the so3 are very noisy tires. it's great performance but it's road noise when it starts to wear, it's pretty bad. i had them for like 5 to 7k and i started to get pretty bad noise already

redgs4 had them too and when it wore down the noise was pretty bad too

Yeah the SO-3 are very noisy tires. On my last set I had 50% tread left but couldn't stand the noise anymore. I changed to Michelin PS2 and they are substantially more quiet.

5 to 7K only???

Holy crap! So all in all, how much mileage did you put on them before you got rid of them?

It's pretty much a concensus that the S03s are noisy once it gets to higher miles. I vaguely remember the 7k mark. This is what made me give up on any S03 purchases.

::crosses fingers:: LOL

I have *yet* to have any problems with my SO-3's and they've been in use for about 7K miles. I gues I'm one of the lucky ones.

yeah i was surprised too. i had around 5 to 7k on my front volks (so3) and i started getting some loud noise from the front and low speed to about 50mph just like you. i thought it's the wear, but i didn't really see much tread wear on the tires yet, but i definitely noticed more wear on the inside, though no where bald.

i sold my rims shortly after that i believe, so i don't know what's the lifespan of those tires

for comparison (if you question about my driving habits), i have pzero nero on my hre right now, it's been 1 1/2 yr and about 20k miles. no noticeable wear in the front, and ride is still very quiet

Hameed-

I have had a number of issues with these tires(SO3), noise, sidewall cracks. When my wife's car wears thru her set, I am not gonna buy another set, EVER. The low speed noise becomes a constant reminder that a brand change is in order. Not to mention I have three tires on the side of my house with cracks where the sidewalls meet the tread. Sure those were safe.

I am currently running Pilot Sport Rears, and just bought Toyo Proxe 4 for the fronts. Nice tires, decent price, and most importantly, NO ROAD NOISE anymore.

Good luck-

Doug

very true, the so3 do have the cracking problem. when so many members have that problem i don't think it's anyone's mistake.
