Default Is this damage fixable?

So I had a slow leak which I thought ws from the tire, but I found out today that my rim is cracked...is this even fixable?

So I guess the question is:

1. Should I fix it, re-apply clear coat and have it look brand new? (By the way, I think two of the rims are slightly bent, too)

2. Or should I just save up, put on the stock rims, and get new rims?

See attached pics! Thanks for the input...

that wheel is probably repairable......but sometimes we need an excuse to get something new.

Any good wheel shop can repair that crack in 48 hours with a cost of about $125... That's a very common crack that happens when hitting pot holes at higher speeds. Good luck

Will this seal it completely? I read in another thread that someone had a cracked rim like that, had it repaired and said that it was good for a spare....would I be able to drive on that permanently?

I figure....if I'm going to get this fixed, I might as well bring all four rims and have them re-polish all four, take out the slight bends (if there are any), and then just have them as "brand new" to me again.

Heck, I'm saving up for the new Eclipse line, am getting married, and am looking to purchase a home. I don't think I can swing for a new set of rims yet....especially since I want a big brake kit next!

Does anyone know how much it costs to fix road rash and unbend rims (very slight)?

I think I might have to do that this week....

How did you notice the crack? Were you leaking air?

Exactly correct. I noticed that I was losing about 3lbs/day. At first, I thought it was a slow leak, so I jacked up the car and sprayed soapy water looking for bubbles. Nada.

For the next couple weeks, I'd be filling it up yada yada yada. I finally broke down and brought the wheel in to a tire shop to fix the "leak". They later told me that my rim was cracked.

When I went in to see it, I wasn't shocked, but I was a bit surprised as I'm pretty "with-it" when I'm driving and am always looking out for potholes.

Once repaired it will be good and seal good as before. The rim repair shops will aluminum weld it, then grind it smooth and polish it to match if needed. When my old rim cracked like that, a friend of mine took it to some of his friends at the local community collage and the students welded it. Obviously in my case they keept the weld bead and did not grind it smooth, but the tire still balanced out and it never leaked. Cost to me was free. For the students they got to practice their skills. Anyway, unless you want new rims just get it repaired.

They're 18" SSR GT-1's. I don't really want to bit the bullet to get new rims yet because I really want to get some brakes....eventually.

Yeap, hopefully it won't go more than that....I figure if I bring all four and have them all fixed at once, it might be cheaper(?).

I talked to a buddy of mine yesterday who referred me to a good place and said that they'll probably charge me $85 to weld the crack, but he wasn't sure how much it would cost to refinish each wheel. I'll most likely find out today.

The thing that stinks is that they're a modest drive away...I'm almost tempted to ship it to them.
