Default Found my wheel at Tire Rack

I am going to order this wheel at Tire Rack. What do you think? Going with 18" staggered. I'm thinking I want chrome. Going on a white GS 400. 18's because of the crappy roads here and chrome because the chemicals they use on the roads here ruin polished or painted wheels. Was going to get Kumho's. Is there any discounts at Tire Rack. How long does it usually take to get wheels and tires.

Not a bad looking wheel, but FYI, chrome is not friend of those chemicals either! Safest bet is clearcaoted silver. I think you are referring to road salt, and it pits the chrome over time.

Good luck.

ya man only silver can withstand the salt from roads in the notheast and wherever it gets bad, but as long as to stay on top of them they will be easier to keep clean..

It is not the salt on the roads it is the magnesium chloride. It will etch the wheels even with clearcoat. The only luck I have had is with chrome.

They put it on the roads because it keeps the roads from freezing. I bought a set of clear coated wheels for my Son's truck and within 1 month the wheels were pitted. I was able to return them because they had a 1 year warranty on the finish and got chrome. Though I won't be using my car in the snow they still put it on the roads if they think it may snow.

that's a nice looking rim for a white GS. should look nice.
honestly, i've never figured out why some people don't have a set of winter rims.
if you can't afford to keep a winter setup then you can't afford to throw money
away by letting your expensive set get eaten by salt or magnesium chloride
or whatever else does it.
if i were you i'd keep what you have now and use that as a winter set up - if
possible. just my .02.
good luck with the purchase.

I have a winter set-up. The 16" platinum wheels that are on the car. There are not that many days here when you can't drive a 2-wheel rear drive car. They spray the stuff whenever they think it is going to snow. The chemicals can be on the roads and you would think it just rained lightly, no problem driving. Once I put the new rims on they stay on. If it gets bad I drive my 4x4 Duramax GMC.

yeah if there are something that will eat the paint and the polish, it will eat the chrome too. so i will be very careful

i guess a set of fatory 16s or 17s might be your best option against winter
