What is the wides tire you can fit on a stock sc300?

What is the wides tire you can fit on a stock sc300?
I am looking at getting a new set of tires for my SC 300. I am running supra TT stock rims 17 - 8.5 in front and 17 - 9.5 in the rear.
What I want to know is will 315/35R-17 's fit or will I have to modify the wheel well? If I have to, I will go with a 275/40R- 17. I know they fit becouse that is what I am running now.
Second question for the HIGH horse power cars - What Tires do you Run and why?
