Default Hubcentric Wheel Topic Update: iFORGED wheels are avail hubcentric!

Hey guys, right before the Thanksgiving holiday, there was a thread started by member chuckb called "HRE vs iFORGED on a GS".

The basic question that chuck was asking was a forged wheel that was hubcentric for a GS, and if there were any options other than HRE, etc. Outside of the back and forth banter, I was really interested in finding out just how many other wheel companies offered hubcentric wheels for the GS. I put out a few calls, but with the holiday and all, things took a little longer. iFORGED was first to answer the call, and they will build any wheel to hubcentric specs for an extra $190.00 per set..

I honestly have never received a hubcentric request (before chuckb), so I was not even aware of this option myself! I think this is great news, for those that do not mind the hubring, then the normal price is fine. And for those that really are concerned with hubicity, it is availible for a very reasonable premium.

I placed this thread in the GS forum for 2 reasons.

1. The original thread was posted here, but due to "heated debate" it was closed.

2. We are discussing hubcentric wheels for a GS

Thanks for the update D. I would definitely shell out $50/wheel to get them hubcentric. Maybe the next set.

Default hubcentric's

That's good to know Derrick. Can't wait to hear what other companies do this. Hopefully one of my favorites!

Derrick, do you know the hubcentric specs for the GS? I need 1 h/c ring for my rear wheel. It was damaged and I need info for a new one. Thanks.

Quote by D2-
"For reference, 2pc and 3pc look identical when you order the 2pc with rivets. For those that prefer the cleaner, "boltless" look, simply order the 2pc non-rivet. In 99% of applications, a larger lip (front and rear) is yielded from 2pc "

Hey Derrick,
What is the advantage of a 3 piece w/rivets if a 2piece w/rivets looks the same?
thanks,
chuck

The advantage of 3pc is sizing availibility for one, with a 2pc wheel the outer barrels come in pre-set widths. For instance iFORGED is 20x8.5 and 20x10, WORK Euroline is 20x8.5 / 20x9.5 / 20x10.5 etc. If you want a 20x9, then you need 3piece.

The other advantage of 3pc is chrome, 2pc cannot be chromed (unless is JDM spray chrome), so for customers that want chrome 3pc is a must.

Honestly thats about it!

What exactly does hubcentric do?
A hub centric wheel has a center bore (the center of the wheel, where the cap goes) that fits perfectly snug on the axle when installed. It prevents vibration and wheel shake. Alot of wheels, actually most, do not come hub centric, and require a ring that attaches to make them as hub cnetric as possible. This is a quick description, I an get in more detail, but for this purpose thats it in a nutshell. Hope this helps explain it.

Could someone explain this one? I have a set of Senekas on my other car and I don't feel any vibration on the highway.

Not having a hub centric wheel does not automatically mean you will have vibration and wheel shake.....it just increases the odds that you will. Some people will argue that you dont need it, others swear by it! A ring will usually correct the issue, but not always....I guess it depends on how well the ring is made to fit snugly.
