Question 17 vs 18 inch wheels

I am looking at buying a 2004 LS430 that currently has 17 inch wheels but I like the 18 inch sport wheels better. The dealer has offered to switch the wheels to 18 inch wheels and says that there will not be any affect on the calibration of the car's electronics because the exterior of the tire remains the same size? Is this true?

You're quite alright. Go for the 18's

you should consider aftermarket 18s. I think the lexus ones while good looking are too thin.

I think the 18's are the best combo between sporty and luxury.

As long as the appropriate tire size is used (and I assume the dealer will get it right), the outside diameter should not change. If they are swapping it for free, then go for the 18s as long as you know you are getting something that looks better, drive better (response-wise), but you lose a little in ride comfort (and potentially gain noise). If they are charging you for the swap and depending on how much the charge is, I would consider aftermarket ones (like digital_b) suggested so that the wheels can fill the wheelwells better.
