I'd REALLY like to put 20's on my GS400. (CHROME LOWENHART LD-1's) I doubt I will be able to purchase them but just in case, I'd like to know a few things...

How does your car ride with 20's??

How loud is it inside?

How quick do you go through tires??

How is your suspension taking the diameter?? Any problems??

With the L-Tuned 1" lowering, will I have any rubbing problems?? Or any added suspension problems?

How much do 20's slow your car down?

It all boils down to pretty much 1 thing, what should I be careful about when buying/installing/riding on 20s. I mean there is no better look then sittin on 20's and personally, I think it's about the only size of wheel that is big enuf for the LARGE REAR END of the GS!! So, if anyone has a few spare moments, please let me know your impressions on 20's..........THANKS

One more question.......and this one might be even dumber than the rest but,

with 20's on and an inch or so drop, how well does your car handle speed bumps, pot holes, ect. I mean, will you get any rub or bang or "bottom-out" from the tire on the inside of the fender well with 20's on??

My main concern is speed bumps... There are a million at school and a million all over this damn city!!!

With 20's, you feel a slow down in acceleration and braking. Mostly with braking though. The ride is not as bad as everyone say it is. Its just when you hit bumps you feel it more. My nightclub is in Manhatten and when I go to Manhatten, I am faced with potholes the size of a tire. You just gotta be careful. Also when you have 20's on , you have to have a mind set that everyone wants your rims and you must be wary of your surroundings. Luckily all my friends are bouncers at the club

Also, w/o lowering I have approx 2 inches of wheelwell to tire space. I planning to get it lowered sometimes in the next couple of weeks. A friend of mine lowered his like 2.5 inches WITH 20's! I dunno about that, it looks too slammed up and he can only have 1 more guy sittin in his car because its too low. 1" drop is the best looking for a gs with dubs, you need a little space between the wheelwell and tire.

The road noise is a bit louder but not annoying. My old yokos gave me around 12000-14000 miles. There should be no problem with rubbing even if lowered if you go with 245's in front.

DIESEL,
Thanks so much for all the info!! It was just what I needed. The only thing is that my father drive the GS once in a blue moon, and would like to keep it looking nice, riding smooth, and not have any warranty problems, ect. ect. So, with all this info, I can try and "sell him" on gettin the 20's.

You haven't experienced any suuspension problems have you??

Thanks again for all the info!! I bet the dubs are LADY MAGNETS at da club!!...

STAY PIMPIN...

What is your budget on the wheels? I know that sometimes parents can be a nail in wall when it comes to modding a car that your parents will drive. I let my uncle drive my car and it doesn't look right when a guy is like 60+ years old with 20 inch rims, mirror tints, lowered etc..

The suspension will take more of a beating because of the ruffer ride for a fact. Its enivitable that ANY suspension u put on will wear faster because of dubs.

Its funny, cuz outside the club, all my bouncer friends park their cars in front (all lexus's baby!). One guy named Lucifer just bought the sc430, RED color. Girls literally throw themselves on him. The sc430 is too hot to handle. It looks funny when he is driving that, cuz picture this. He is 6 feet, weighs 325 pounds, and his arms are 21 1/2 inches. He looks like he is riding a go-cart.

hope this helps man.

Dropping 20's on the Lex is not that bad. It will slow you down, but get the Intake/ECU and exhaust, and you'll be just fine. the ride is a little rough, but not that bad at all. It's no factory ride, I'll tell you that. I'm letting you know from experience with dropping 20's on the GS4 with the H&R 1.4 inch drop. I can fit 4 people in the car just fine and not have to worry about anything. once you get the 20's and the drop put in, I highly recommend you get the Alignment done ASAP. You don't want to wear out any tread on some $1000+ tires, if you know what I mean. If you want some pics, check out my gallery posts in the GS section. My car is the one with the hoes on the hood. Trust me, once you get some 20's people gonna be staring your ride down.

Hope that helps.

Thanks

Since I drive my car A LOT (17,000 mil. in 10 months) should I opt for 19's?? My dad also drives the car and isn't too fond of the 20's. He said he doesn't want the Lex to drive like a "tank" LOL!! Like that could happen!! Anyways, would 19's be better for comfort and durability?? How man miles will I get outta my tires?? What tire size would you go for??

Any suggestions??

THANKS

Lex Driver18---It really doesn't matter what size rim that you get. The ride is going to alter once you change the factory settings of the car. I don't have experience with 19's too much, but I have 20's on my GS4 right now. I suggest that if you decde to get 20's, you drop the car with the H&R 1.4 inch drop. It will get it back to factory height, unless you want to see a 2.5inch gap in between your wheel and fender---trust me, doesn't look nice at all.

As for the tire wear, it depends on the tire that you get. If you want a long lasting tire, get a tire with high treadwear. I suggest the Nitto NT555's. I have them on mine and the treadwear is over 300 or right at 300--don't remember. So those tires should last me about 30,000 miles, that is if the alignment is set right, which mine is.

Hope that helps
