Default Tail-Happy GS300 ??!!

I have a 93 GS300 and have noticed lately that when the road is slightly wet (a few hours after it finishes raining) that I have to be extremely gentle with the throttle in corners....like not using it when making 90 degree turns. Twice now, I have had the rear end break loose. And yes, I am going at a sensible speed for the conditions. The tires are the stock 16" Bridgestones. I am planning on getting the 2nd gen 17's mounted soon with some new rubber, but that is about a month away.
Has anyone had the same thing happen to them when they were riding on stock rubber??

I have a 430 and am very happy with the Yokohama AVS tires. It doesn't solve all your problems, but it rains quite a bit here in South Fla. and I have had nothing but good luck with these tires and this may minimize some of your problem.

I had the same problem with my 93 gs, almost collided with an f-250 when I lost control in the rain. I wasn't going too fast either and didn't over-stear, but almost did a 360! I think there might be a problem with my traction control, but that's not what caused it. You probably just need some new tires, which is what I got after it happened and I haven't had trouble since. While we're on the subject of first gens and tires. . .

Does anyone live in an area where it snows alot during the winter? Here in CT we get a decent amount of snow and i'm a little apprehensive driving a rear wheel car in the snow, even with all weather tires. Does anyone drive there GSs in the winter and have a solution to this problem?

Funny thing is (or not so funny, depending on how you look at it), these are practically BRAND NEW OEM Bridgestones. They were put on just before we bought the car, and that was 3000 miles ago.

I don't think that it is a problem with traction control, TC should stop one or both wheels from spinning. This occurred in a turn and there was no spinning I felt, just a loss of vehicle stability. I have felt (and seen, indicated by the dash light) the TC work in a straight line when I give too much gas on wet pavement. But on this 90 degree corner, I barely gave it any gas.
