Default 19 Wheel found Now what tire?

OK

After 4 weeks of looking I found a wheel. 19 inch Carre SP3. GS400.

1. 19X8.5 Front offset 45
2. 19X9.5 Rear offset 40

Expect to get new Goodyear F1 or new Michelin SP2 tires.

All the refer guides say I can run a 275/35/19 in the rear on that size 19x9.5 wheel. The wheel and offset says "conservative. Is a 285/35/19 possible for the rear? One opinion is that I would have to run a 275/30/19 in the rear? Of coarse its all in the math and no combination of wheel size, width and offset seem to be exactly the same. One sales person claims the 275/35/19 would rub with my selected wheel and I would have to run a 275/30/19 which is down on sidewall size?

I want as much rubber between the wheel rim and the road. Currently run stock 17X8 50 and 245/45/17 on both, no problems although the front is very tight.

Want the front to be conservative and stay close to 3.75 to 4 inches of sidewall height.. Want the back as big as possible without hacking up the fenders? I have seen the tool on horsepower tv that allows you measure everything and guess on offset requirements.

Any thoughts? The new Michelin SP2 is running better on Tire rack opinions than the Goodyear F1?

I don't know how you would ever know fitments for sure unless someone has the exact wheel you want to try?

CAR is GS400 standard suspension.

well the standard within spec sizes are 245/35/19 and 275/30/19, that's totally within spec and you are fine

with 245/40/19 and 275/35/19, you get more sidewall, more comfrtable ride, but it's out of spec and your speedo will be off. from the offset, the rear will fit no problem with the tire, the front should be very ok too, might rub a bit when you doing hard lock full turns, but that's about it coz' you are not lowering. i don't know what the shops are talking about that you will rub in the back

putting 285/30/19 or 285/35/19 in the back would be nice, but you will probably rub slightly on the outside, and you will have to shave a bit of the fender in order to fit it. that's your call now

Thanks for the response. Not really worried about the speedometer readings specs. I will have to look at the work to trim the back fender. I do want the comfort and the larger side wall. I don't want the tire to rub or the wheel to rub.

Thanks for the repsonse.. Its what I expected. I think the wheel person was worried about 4 people in the car, which does not happen very often.
