Default Question about Michelin Pilot Sport A/S reviews...

I was reading customer reviews on the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S on Tire Rack's website and noticed a few Lexus owners complaining about these tires causing a hard pull to the right. Would the Bridgestone Turanza LS-Z be the better fit for an LS430?

Fairly aggressive driver in Houston(rain, heat, more rain, no snow).

The Michelin Pilot Sport A/S is a good choice of tire, but probobly not for the LS430. The Bridgestone is a "better" choice, but I'd give serious consideration to the Toyo Proxes TPT or the Yokohama H4S or V4S depending on what speed rating you need........the Pilot sport A/S is for a sports car & are pricy!

Do a search....this tire has been discussed before....esp the pulling to the right problem.

Default Pilot Sport A/S

Also, IMHO, the Pilot Sport A/S are NOISY! As noisy as my Blizzak winter tires. Mine were rail-straight and handled really well, just to noisy for my tastes. Went with Dunlop SP5000's, but in 245-50 X 17 instead of the stock 225-55's. Maybe not the super grip, but a nice balance between grip, ride and noise.

Thanks for the input, folks.

I considered the Yokohama Avids but their wet track ratings leave something to be desired and wet traction is probably my #1 concern. I haven't found enough reviews on the Toyos Proxes TPT on a heavier lux/sedan to feel comfortable buying them. Personally, I'm not concerned with cost or even tread life. I'm just trying to find the best performing tire for my LS430 and my driving style. I really liked the Dunlop SP Sport 9000s on my dear departed GS400, especially in wet conditions. But that is not a tire for the LS430, in my opinion.

Since Lexus models are all so different, It seems like there should be a tire review post/survey for each Lexus model showing board members preferences/experience. Then those owners who are considering new tires would have "one stop shopping" for suggestions.

Cool

What is the exact size you need for your LS430 asleep? I can give a suggestion that way & a footnote: Keep an open mind as well regarding the Toyo Proxes TPT's......don't "overrule" them just yet They do come in a "V" rated speed rating & are good for 60,000 miles to boot. What are your primary concerns when it comes to choosing a tire? Please be specific.

Thanks. Lateral traction and stopping traction in wet conditions. I find that tires with good "wet" performance are good all around tires. I'm not into having to swap tires out a few times to get a good set or find four round ones. That's why I'm doing my research before I buy.

Tire size is 225/55/17 on the stock Lexus wheels. I'm an aggressive driver and I'm sure I'll be pushing the LS 430 limits a little, mostly city driving. The reviews on the Bridgestone Turanza LS-Z have been pretty positive, in what areas do you think it it falls short?

Default Turanza

I think the Turanza LS-Z is an excellent tire and an excellent choice on a LS.

I Completely agree. The Pilot sport is for the GS or the IS and SC. It costs me over $1K for all four last time. The YoKo DB's are great tires for the LS. I've heard Toyo's are good, but not many shops sell them.
