Highest profile tire for 19" wheel?
I plan to buy a set of 19x8" Dub Shoreline wheels (by MHT Wheels) and want to use the highest profile tire possible (40 vs 35) for better ride quality and less chance of bending rims on potholes. Romini indicated that 245 40 19's are out of spec (called it fat setup). Does this mean they will rub or will my speedo simply be off? The overall diameter for this setup is the same as several Lexus of the Month cars who are running 245 35 20's up front. Advice??
PS - is there a simple speedo mod to adjust for out of spec setups?

Well I can tell you that a 245/40/19 is 26.7" tall and a 245/35/19 is 25.7 tall. I don't know if a 40 will rub or not but if it's taller than stock it will cause your speedo read low as well as your odometer. It's always best to stay as close to the stock hieght tire as posible. What size tire did your car come stock with?

the "fat setup" is the same if you were going to run 20", it does throw it off jus a bit, i believe around 6 miles per 100 so if you're at 100mph it is actually around 106mph. i have the same setup and it doesn't rub at all, but again depending on your drop and offset.

with the fat setup you will like having 20s, so in the front, when you are doing full lock steering wheel turn and back up, you will rub a little. other than that, provided that the offset is right, you shouldn't rub.
245 on 8, not perfect but it should fit no problem

highest profile for 19" wheel
Thanks for the excellent feedback. The guide to tire sizes and offsets was really helpful. As for the wheel type, i have gotten some negative feedback on the chrome quality for MHT's. Any thoughts?
