Since you're going to upgrade to 18", I think 18"s would be a good wheel size j/k man~.

Go 235/40/18 front and 265/35/18 rear.
Maybe 245/40/18 front and 275 35/18 rear.
Both works.

Must be nice to live in a wonderful climate where you can ride 18", 19", 20"s all year round!!

Question: I'm also looking to upgrade to 18 from a 17. How much of a ride difference is there? I live in the DC area with booby trapped potholes and where the weather can change unexpectedly. Ride comfort is my concern.

Thanks!!

Just to clarify - the tire sizes you're talking about can only go on staggered rim widths, typically 8.5" wide front, and 9.5" wide rear.

0110101 (53?) - ride isn't much different 17 to 18s - tires make a BIG difference... I find my Nittos on 18s to be LESS stiff than the stock Potenzas on 17s, but noisier.

If you don't take your car to track often, then I'd suggest you put the same size of rims on both front and rear end, that way you could rotate the tires and furthermore reduce the money you spend on tires relatively. Generally speaking, 18x8.5 all around is pretty good which is what I have.

As Bit mentioned, tires do make the most difference. Pick them carefully. You could read some reviews in tirerack.com Nitto, Bridgestone, Yokohama, Michelin are all top quality tires. Need I not remind you do not go for FireStone.

What about 235/45/18 front and 265/40/18 rear? Anyone tried that?

That should be about a 0,6 inch increase in diameter over 245/40/18 and an inch over the stock 235/45/17 on a GS4.

I haven't even received my 430 yet, but I think that the wheel wells on the GS look too big in relation to the stock wheel/tire set up.

I'm thinking about going with the set up above together with a 1" drop.

Also if you, like me, don't plan to take your car to the track a 35% sidewall perhaps is too low for comfort?

Default based on my research

Hello OT,

based on my research, the 235/265 sizes you mentioned has a slight problem-not many tires come in those two sizes, such limitation could be a problem.

like you, i only do spirited street driving, and 245/40 and 275/35, though a bit low for the rear, is still no too bad, imo. just make sure you get a set of good tyres.
what model wheels and tyres do you have in mind?

with your desired 1" drop and the 245/275 combowich, the gs will look awesome. btw, any words on those TTE coilovers?

thanks, will

Will,

Didn't really think about that.

I don't seem to share wheel design taste with most people here, maybe it's an American-Swedish thing?

I have been looking at the OZ Opera but it only comes in 8" and 9" width.
http://www.ozracing.com/products/whe...cco/opera.html

I could squeeze the 245/40's on 8" but I guess the 275/35's need at least 9.5" rims.

So perhaps the Opera II that are available in many more sizes.

I have to do some research on offsets to stay within the current European regulation that says that the track width can only be increased 15mm over stock wheels. So I need an offset of no more than 57mm.

For tires I would guess Yokohama.

I'm still waiting on word from the Stockholm Lexus dealer on the TTE coilovers.

try Opera 2 pieces or 3 pieces (if they have that.)
