Yoko AVS DB s2?
Hi all,
I have a set of Yoko AVS DB put on my GS a while back. The 2 fronts lasted about 10k miles, and now the inside tread is completely worn out. Not to mention the road noise generated by these tires
I am needing to replace the 2 front tires 245/40/18, and I am wondering if anyone has any experiences with the supposedly new updated version of the DB, the DB S2? Or any other recommendations?
What I am looking for in order of priority:
1) quiet
2) long lasting
3) price
4) performance.
any feedback will be greatly appreciated.

Hi, I have Yoko DB on my car for +- 5000k (not any more). Worst tires I ever have. Good for first 2-3K miles and loud, very loud.Check Tirerack what people have to say about this tires. For me garbage!!!!! I think Yoko DB2 are much better.

I think steviej has the Yoko DB's on his ES....send him a PM. As for other suggestions in that size, for what your looking for I would consider:
- Continental Extreme Contact
- Michelin Pilot Sport A / S
- Toyo Proxes 4
- Pirelli P-zero nero
They are all Ultra high performance all season tires. I've heard EXCELLENT things about the fairly new Toyo Proxes 4 & about mid pack price wise. The Michelins will be the mst expensive by far. Keep us posted & good luck!

Been there, done that, Bought the T-shirt
I've had both the dbs and the db S2s. S2s are a definite improvement. My rears (275/35/18) are just now beginning to make noise, and they've been on the car about 20k. Probably replace them next spring just because they'll be worn out by then. My fronts did the same thing as yours (worn inside prematurely), and they got LOUD!! The thing I've learned about the dbs, both versions, is that if your alignment is such that the tire isn't perfectly straight and level, that they'll easily wear wrong and start making noise quick.
I've been in the market lately for some replacements for the front. After doing a lot of research, mainly on tirerack, I finally replaced them. I had my heart set on the Pirelli PZero Nero M+S (245/40/18), but they've been on back order for a couple of months, and I found out yesterday that they're on backorder now for another 3 months for that size!!! I tried to wait, there was a rumor that they might be availible this month, but that turned out to be false. So I then had 3 other choices left. I was only interested in an all season tire. I didn't want the dbs for a 3rd time. If kept aligned they're pretty quiet up to max wear, but they don't last more than 20k or so. The Pilot A/Ss, IMO, are overpriced for what you get. So that left me with the Kumho's Ecsta ASX. According to tirerack very comperable to the Pirelli, but cheaper. Actually it was the cheapest of the 4. I had them put on yesterday. So far I really like them. I've heard that they have a soft sidewall. It makes for a quieter, smoother ride, but apparently they sacrifice handling at the exrtreme, which I almost never need.
IMO, the Kuhmos are definitely worth a shot, especially for the price. Sorry for the long post.

The Pilot Sport A/S are indeed quite expensive, but they are an awesome tire in every way.....never drove on a better tire in heavy rain & even in deep snow they were just fantastic!! Would I buy them again? Yup you bet.....I just hope the price comes down a fair bit in the meantime as more tire makers are competing for the business. The Falken Ziex ZE-512 are much lower in price & a tire to consider except anything in the 55 series or lower (50, 45 etc) are only warrantied for 30,000 miles.....60 series & up they are good for 60,000 miles.
