Default Can somone help me with buying tires?

Hey guys, I picked up some rim's on ebay:

set of 4 2 piece Rays Zeiger 5 wheels. The fronts are 17 X 7 with a +45 offset, and the rears are 17 X 8 with a + 50 offset. The PCD is 5 / 114.3.

They will arive on saturday , and im wondering what is the best tire setup so i can start shopping and have them rolling this weekend! i'd like them as wide as possible. Thanks!

i think you should do 225 all around so you can rotate them for longevity.

actually, i think it is 235. stock OEM is 16x5.5 or 16x7 w/ 225 series tires.

when you're going with 17's, get 235 series.

Default tires?

I'd say 235-45-17 front and 245-45-17 rear. For tire brand try Nitto 555 or Yokohama AVS ES100. Both reasonably priced tires with decent performance.

235 might be pushing it in the front

I would go with 225/50R17 front and 245/45R17 rear.

i say 225 front and 255 rear at most.

plus those sizes and offset, isn't that way too high for the car?

Default Tire Size

I recommend 225/45 and 245/40 17 for those wheel widths, these are the same as E36 M3 sizes so there is a huge selection.

245/40-17 3.9in 12.4in 24.7in 77.6in 816 -4.0%

255s are kind of big for 8" rims. A tire too wide for the rim can cause issues if there is not a good fit and slippage results.

I still stand by my original specs to keep the overall diameter correct and speedometer accurate.

Default Need to know what car you have

You don't describe your sc model or year; For example a 1993 sc300 has 215/60/15 stock tire. An upsize to the wheels you have, 17x7, would be 225/45/17, the closest fit for maintaining accurate speedometer reading, which would still be off 1/2 mph at 60 mph speed. A 225/50/17 would work too, but speedo would be off by about 3mph at 60mph speed. It's important to name your model and year to get helpful feedback on forum.
