Default offset question on fat 19 setup

I can get a good deal on a set of 19x10's for the rear but they have a +22 offset

Will these rims fit and if not could anything be done to adapt the rims to fit?

thanks for any help
Michael

wow, +22? that offset is too extreme......you'll need fender flares to make those fit.....i got 19x10s with +44 on mine.....

This offset discussion always confuses me.

the numbers are always opposite of what my intuition tells me.

Is there an easy way to think of these numbers. If I am right the number represents the distance between the mounting surface and the center of the wheel. Is this right??
Thanks for helping with my continual confusion!

well it's just coz' you have a bad idea about offset. the higher the offset, the inner the wheel is. the lower, the outer. that's the basics
