Default How can you tell a real Lowenhart from a replica?

Will there be any markings on the rim for Lowenharts besides the centercaps? I bought a set of LD5's for a very good price and I have a bad feeling...I get them tomorrow, but I still have a bad feeling here.

Lowenharts are 3 piece rims...Should be numerous bolts on the insides of the rim...I believe my old Lowenharts had "Made in Japan" marked on the inner spokes..

yeah like Dennis said, a true 3 pc wheel has bolts that go from the front to the back, ie, you see the bolt from the face, and can put your hand behind that bolt and feel the rear. Alot of the new 1pc wheels have bolts that are glued on, so when you touch the back you dont feel anything. Also inpsect the rear, I'm almost sure something back there should say "lowenhart"

1.) Lowenhart uses a 6-star allen bolt for the center caps.
2.) To add to DGOT20s' "Look-For" list, 3 piece rims have a clearly distinguishable seperation from the spoke/mesh to the rim.

SEPERATION

NO SEPERATION

My Lowenharts say "Hart" on the inside of one of the spokes.

Also, you can tell by the chrome. The real lowenharts have more of a deep nice chrome finish..

yeah its hard to quantify with words, but the way the spokes meet the lip, the overall finish, etc etc it just looks different. its usually in the up close details, ie, the things you notice when you clean the wheel. (well if you clean your wheels like me- while sitting on a bucket with 2-3rags, quick wax, sponge and tire shine LOL)
