225/45/17 vs. 235/50/17 for 1993 SC300?
Got a set of 17x7 IS300 wheels and am trying to decide on tires for 1993 SC300. Stock wheel on a 1993 is 15x6.5 with 215/60 tires which look way too small for wheel wells. I used a tire size calculator which shows the 225/45/17 to be a near perfect fit to stock 93 tires, but they would be even smaller diameter. Will the much wider diameter 235/50/17 fit without any problems with handling and braking? Stock tire for 1995 SC300 is 225/55/16, and tire calculator states 235/50/17 are a close fit to the 95 stock tire? Seems like moving up to 235/50/17 wouldn't be a problem. . . . one last thing, tire calculator stated minimum wheel width for 225/45/17 tire is 7 inches but minimum width for 235/50/17 tire is 6.5 inches -- is this true? seems wierd.
Thanks to any of you tire pros for taking the time to read and respond to this long request.

Tire Size
225/45 17 is the correct size if you have a 17 x 7 inch wheel on that car. 235/50 17 is 1 inch taller then the original equip. OD.
